I know, no one talks about rest stops when they talk about Israel tours. But, believe me they are an important part of the trip. When I say that these rest stops are our favorites, this does not mean they are necessarily, well, um, the cleanest by American standards. It just means they are conveniently located, generally open at convenient times, and have some amenities.
Highlight of the Lido Junction is definitely the camels. While the mixed men's and women's rest rooms are not a highlight, the location between Jerusalem and the Dead Sea make them a good stop.
No one on our tours has had anything particularly nice to say about the the bathrooms at Almog, but they're there. There's also a Kosher Burger's Bar at the same rest stop. So that's a plus.
