Scrolls of Fire - Megillot HaEsh

Within the Martyrs Forest stands a poignant memorial dedicated to the survivors of the Holocaust. This powerful bronze sculpture, crafted by the talented Nathan Rappaport, serves as a testament to his own survival as a Holocaust survivor from Warsaw. Having escaped the clutches of the Nazis by fleeing to the East, Rappaport eventually found solace in Israel before later emigrating to the United States.

His incredible artistry can also be seen in the thought-provoking Warsaw Ghetto Uprising Memorial in Yad Vashem and the monumental tribute to Mordechai Anielewitz in Kibbutz Yad Mordechai. Inaugurated in 1971, this memorial beautifully depicts the harrowing history of the Holocaust, from the depths of its atrocities to the triumphant creation of the state of Israel.

One poignant example shown is that of Janusz Korciak and his children, symbolizing the resilience and hope that emerged from the darkest of times. Situated near the Anna Frank memorial, as well as the HaKedoshim Forest, Bnei Brit Cave, and Flam winery, this memorial serves as a poignant reminder of the indomitable spirit of those who survived and the importance of never forgetting the lessons of the past.
